• 私は～だと思う
  • I think (that) + 肯定文
• 私は～ないと思う（私は～と思わない）
  • I don't think (that) + 肯定文
    • 「彼は試験に受からないと思う」は I think he doesn't pass the exam. ではなく I don't think he pass the exam. が自然な言い方。
    • S think + 否定文 は、主語が否定文の内容を確実と言い切れるような場合には使える。例えば、自分が先生という立場から見て「彼は(ほぼ確実に)試験に落ちる」と思ってるなら I think he doesn't pass the exam. と言っても不自然ではない。

• 誰かを出口まで見送る
  • show someone out/show out someone
  • see oneself out
    • show oneself outも間違いではないが「お前の助けは要らない」というネガティブなニュアンスを含むので、普通は使わない方がいいらしい。

• needn't have done
  • 「（今になって思えば）する必要はなかった（が、すでに行ってしまった）」：行動ずみ!!
  • I needn't have got up so early. That day was holiday. そんなに早く起きる必要はなかった（が起きてしまった）。その日は休日だった。
• didn't need to do
  • 「する必要はなかった」：実際に行ったかどうかは争点ではない
  • I didn't need to got up so early. そんなに早く起きる必要はなかった（起きたかどうかは定かではない）

• 文句を言う/非難する
  • blame : 通常、批判の対象者を取る
    • Amnesty International are blaming Japan about its execution as always.
  • criticise : 批判する事柄を取る
    • Amnesty International are criticising execution in Japan as always.

• 昨日には/明日には/～には＝～の時点で
  • as of ～。as of yesterday, as of tomorrow, as of now, as of 2018

• 1週間ぶりに
  • for the first time in a week
    • in a weekの部分を変えると任意の「○○ぶりに」と表現できる。
    • 1年ぶりに / for the first time in a year
    • 数日ぶりに / for the first time in a few days

be mean to someone ～に意地悪する

• 明日大丈夫？（事前に決めた予定通りで問題ない？）
  • Are we still on for tommorow?
  • Are we still on for 予定 on 日時や曜日?

レジスター（使用域／フォーマルかカジュアルか）が違う。「日本は私が以前住んでいた国です」という文なら、以下の順でフォーマルな表現になる。

1. Japan is the country I used to live in.
2. Japan is the country which I used to live in.
3. Japan is the country where I used to live.
4. Japan is the country in which I used to live.

文法原理主義者に言わせると、最初の2つ、文末に前置詞が来るのは許されない行為らしい。現実ではふつーに使われておりカジュアルかつナチュラルな表現とのこと。ただしビジネスレベルでは依然として好ましくない表現だそうだ。
